What’s your problem? There are no bad situation in any other street in this world? Why are you showing it only in Brazil?? Are your country safe, organized and the people has everything that they need? If so hope is because you are working hard to get it, and not because your government is a stealer of our Brazilians goods and nature. Let Brazil in peace! Take care about your streets!

People who have never been in Brazil don’t know how this country is. It is a very beautiful country and some places are rich, some places are poor. For me, it is the best country to live: we don’t have wars, food is cheap and beautiful landscapes!

“Let Brazil in peace!” — I think Abbey was trying to say “Leave Brazil alone!” Brazilians are very proud of this country, for no reason. We are champions of social inequality. Corruption is generalized in politics. People don’t read books. And we have a war in Rio, very real. Decades after Sputnik we still lack a satellite launcher. The other day I was looking for a Brazilian wallpaper for my desktop and found only one — the Iguassu Falls. The others were symptomatic: music, samba, carnival, soccer, the Christ. No science, no planes, no rockets, no LHC. Not even a good flora, fauna or architecture picture. No sunsets. Just soccer.

The funny thing is that people for other countries only remember showing the Brazil when they are talking about problems and bad situations.
Brazil is not the only country who have problems in the whole world, don’t you know? There ARE also great people who know how to be welcoming to their tourists, amazing places, a rich culture…
But, of course, nobody remeber to showing that.

In my previous comment I forgot to mention other subjects that are very common in Brazilian wallpapers: beaches, girls and Formula 1 races — with cars that are not manufactured here, of course. Nothing important is manufactured here. The excessive pride that folks have of Brazil is actually a mixture of jealousy and incompetence. Locals believe that Rio de Janeiro is the center of Brazil, forgetting the state of Sao Paulo, which carries the country on its back. Most Brazilians live on the coast, talk only of beaches, soccer, barbecue and beer, and don’t know the countryside. If Brazil were invaded from the Andes they would take some time to realize. Wallpapers on fauna and flora, landscapes, historic places and architecture? It is more likely to find pictures taken by foreigners. To solve this we need one more ministry — the Ministry of Wallpapers. :-)

Sadly, Marcelo is very, very right in his comments about this country. Brazil is not the worse place in the world, make no mistake about it… But it isn’t as good as some brazilians will tell you (just look at the other comments made by brazilians).

People around here just won’t accept the truth about this country and its conditions. That’s why we have so many problems. They don’t accept the truth and they ignore it, so they focus on the ridiculous pattern of brazilian asses, carnival and soccer. All the while politicians are having a laugh because they can screw up the country as much as they want and people will never do a thing about it – they’re too busy focusing on the ridiculous things I mentioned in order to have this image of the “happy brazilian” to foreigners. Sad, but it’s true.

Brazilians like Jéssica are what I’m talking about: so you don’t see anything bad being shown about the rest of the world? Why do you get so angry when someone exposes the truth about our country? In fact, this post is called “interesting Google Street View images from Brazil”… The focus isn’t on poor people; rather at the sad comedy that comes from it. I guess you want people to always show the “happy brazilian” with the brazilian girl with a big ass, carnival thematic and soccer, right? GO BRAZIL GO! Sad… And who ever said a thing about people being nice to tourists? Oh, wait, I get it: you just did remember that most people around here HATE foreigners, isn’t it so? Because brazilian people are “DA BEST LOL” and the japanese, german, italian and so on who helped building this damn country aren’t worth it, right? Americans are evil, argentinians too, etc, etc. Your “rich culture” comes from many others, I hope you realize it. And then again, no one ever said a thing about it here. No need to bring it up.

Brazil has a lot of potential, you know. But you can’t ever expose the bad things about this country… People around here just can’t accept it – be prepared for a legion of “zomg evil foreigners!1! gringos!1″ brazilians to show up around here. That’s the sad truth about our country: it has potential, it surely has its share of nice things that often don’t get a mention because of the same old imposed by brazilians themselves (SOCCER! ASSES! CARNIVAL! RIO!)… But don’t you ever dare showing brazilians all the bad in this country – because the rest of the world has problems enough!! Leave us alone, isn’t it so? And that’s why this country just can’t get any better.

Right, right… i agree that our country is very unfair at the same time its so great. People over the world just know few things about Brasil like its beaches, the pretty girls, samba, soccer… It seems that you are addicted to speak bad things about Brasil :)
Let me show you some things that ALL OF YOU REALLY HAVE TO KNOW:

1) Brazil is the country that has had more success in combating AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, and has been world example.
2) In a survey of 50 cities in various countries, the city of Rio de Janeiro was considered the most solidarity.
3) Brazil’s election results come out in less than 24 hours after the onset of the findings, while in the USA this calculation is made and remade, or is delayed and not entirely reliable. (Losers)
4) We are the third largest democracy in the world.
5) Our advertising agencies earn the biggest and best awards worldwide. Sorry USA, not this time again.
6) We have the most modern banking system on the planet.
7) Brazil is the largest market of jets and executive helicopters in the whole world.
8) Brasil is (this is recent) in the list of the ten largest economies of th world. We are at the 8 position (believe it: 9 espanha, 10 canada).
9) We are the largest beef exporter in the world. (And I just mentioned this one because if I wanted to mention all that WE EXPORT to the world I would be here for a loooooong long time, you can be sure).

Every country has its positives and negatives aspects but you love to focus on negative aspects of Brazil. Why not accept that our country is really getting better and better?
Why dont talk about how FAT are USA? Yes, it’s a rich and FAT country, I would be ashamed of be known about it.
Otherwise, I don’t even need to mention that our people are not like Europe and USA people that are arrogant and antipathetic and that think they are better than others when it is not always true.
All you can be sure that you have a lot to learn with brasilians and your countries too.

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, GUYS! ;)

Caroline:

If you didn’t notice, I AM from Brazil. Brasileiro, falo português, “get it”? Entendeu? :D Probably didn’t read my entire comment because OMG I said something bad about Brazil.

Again: Brazil ISN’T the worst place in the world, but if you can’t accept the truth about our reality, you’re just being blind. No one EVER said there aren’t good things around here, as your own comment makes it clear… But our reality is NOT as good as you’re trying to make it sound like. And how can you expect people to take you seriously when you’re trying to offend other countries by claiming they’re “fat”? This is ridiculous and childish. You’re just pointing out the very problems I mentioned in my previous comments: brazilians can’t handle the truth about this country and offend foreigners for no good reason besides trying to ignore our sad reality.

“I don’t even need to mention that our people are not like Europe and USA people that are arrogant and antipathetic and that think they are better than others when it is not always true.”

Child, you don’t live in the same Brazil as I do, do you? Or maybe you didn’t even think about your very own comment, where you DID sound arrogant and ignorant towards other countries, making it sound like we are better than others. Or maybe you’re not looking around seeing all those goodamn brazilians trash-talking “gringos” for no good reason at all most of the time?

Or even maybe you’re ignoring the fact (sad fact) that brazilians can be ignorant even with themselves because they’re from different parts of the country or have some kind of history? Since you can’t see anything wrong with Brazil, let me tell you and all the others a very nice fact about our country:

About a year and a half ago to 2 years we had some terrible problems in the state of Santa Catarina. With “we” I mean we brazilians. There was a terrible flood (think Katrina and what happened to those people) and people from many parts of the state needed SERIOUS HELP. And you know what happened? Many people laughed at their faces and got as far as to claim that they should f*ck themselves because they were from the south and the south tried to be independent from Brazil. ABOUT A FRIGGIN’ CENTURY AND A HALF AGO.

Caroline’s post is nowhere “all you need to know”. There are many good things about Brazil (ahem, what was that talk about being addicted to speak bad things about this country?) that she didn’t mention. But since she’s going as far as to claim that her comment is “all you need to know” – heck, I’m going as far as to say that YES, her comment is all you need to know and see how brazilians can be blind about their friggin’ rear side, sounding arrogant and xenophobic without even noticing.

Sad.

PS.: Just would like to add that I have many friends from Europe and North America and they are WAY MORE open-minded than brazilians/towards Brazil than brazilians will ever be towards the rest of the world.

They are way more interested in knowing about this country, how it REALLY works and about our culture than brazilians could ever be about other countries. Which is funny, because it seems that our people will always have something bad to say about foreigners without even knowing who they are and how they are… Hell, they probably never even visited a different country.

But we’re not arrogant and xenophobic, right? It’s the rest of the world that hates us! Heck, there even may be a worldwide conspiracy against poor Brazil!

Caroline:

Minha amiga, are you getting any part of this big cake? Brazil exports a lot? Yes. Brazil is an example in AIDS treatment? Yes. And so what? The only people who actually benefit from this are the rich people, the ones who can afford to pay for a proper treatment and these ones are also the same ones who get the money from our economy, it counts nothing to have a strong economy if the only ones getting the hands on the profits are the elite, and not the country in general. And Rio is one of the most solidary cities in the world? Bullshit, if you ask me, we all know from where the “jeitinho brasileiro” and not to mention the overwhelming drug traffic present in there..

Wise up, we pay taxes enough to pave our roads and streets in gold and platinum and we see no return from the goverment in nothing: education is shit, transportation is shit and health is shit too. Besides, since you mentioned a survey let me do the same: It’s been confirmed that half of our yearly salary is just to pay taxes.

Brazil has great things? Yes, but life here isn’t easy, we are a rich country in many aspects, but we don’t profit from this at all. Now when will we be a real great and rich country: when we start getting our cut from the country’s profits, which so far hasn’t happend.

Peter M.:

Don’t say such thing. We just don’t accept criticism from foreing people, and don’t worry, it’s nothing personal it’s just the way people here behave in general.

The main thing is; Brazil is a beautiful country, but the iliterate people suck, all the Brazilian assholes only care about soccer, lame soap operas and BBB and nobody gives a rat’s ass about the rotten politicians that are the cancer of this country who have been stealing in a broad day light, Dumb brazilians are so proud of this pigsty country that makes them blind to reality, this is the place where you see slob people throwing garbage out of the windows of luxurious cars, manipulated newspapers like “folha de São Paulo” publishing only what’s convenient for the dirty politiicians or political parties who can offer them more money, It’s also the paradise for ex-porn actresses become children’s heroin and iliterate ex-favelados who only learned to speak (wrongly) and play soccer become stars and even “Phenomena” It’s probably the only place in the world where they elect thieves, clowns, cheap singers, terrorists and hookers to direct their country, it’s probably the only place where they receive well croocks from all over the world who come here to steal even more whatever there’s here, It’s a pitty tha dumb Brazilians only get offended when somebody says bad things about their beloved country but do nothing when their fuckin politicians publicaly increase their own wages in 80% while the rest of the country leaves miserably, Brasilia is surrounde by miserable uneducated people who most of the time don’t have shit to eat and use the newspapers to wipe their butt , but, all of them love soccer, porn soap operas and BBB form “rede globo” which is their brains wash and dumb factory.
