Navagio Beach, or the Shipwreck, is an isolated sandy cove on Zakynthos island and one of the most famous beaches in Greece. It is notable because it is home to the wreck of the alleged smuggler ship Panagiotis, it is often referred to as ‘Smugglers Cove’.

I am also Greek, I’ve been there too, awesome, breathtaking, blah blah, only one question that no one has ever been able to answer so far;
I’ve seen a million photos of the place almost identical to each other, now from where and how were these photos taken?
You can visit the bay only by boat and these images seem to be shot by someone who’s either climbing the Kilimanjaro, or falling to his death after he had an accident with his light aircraft!
P.S. by the way the photo with the rusting ship surrounded by shallow green waters? not the same ship, not the same beach…

I’v been there it’s on the island of zaytinthos (sorry cant spell name prop) them photos are taken from a walkway that juts out from the cliff you have to cue to get out on to it because usally lots of torists . Beach is very sore so bring shoes. Lovely from snorkling around. There are privit opperators with 8 seater speedboats . Only way to go .

I’ve been there and it’s really the most beautiful beach in Greece (if not Europe!)
Oh, by the way, the pics don’t do any justice- that blue color is unlike anything you’ve seen before- it’s a surreal blue and the water is crystal clear.
I would move there if I could

It’s not a real shipwreck, but a boat placed there by the local government as a tourist attraction. It’s a beautiful cove, though.
To answer the question re how the photos are taken from that angle – there is a purpose-built viewing balcony built out from the cliffs above (conveniently near a bar)

This hasn’t been ‘photoshopped’. It is real and I know because I’ve been there myself. I’m from UK and did a private trip there many years ago. The weather wasn’t like in the photo’s it was very choppy and we swam to shore from quite a way out, I nearly died on the way back it was that bad. Nevertheless i’m hear to tell the tale. It’s not a ncie beach because of the pebbles but still very beautiful.

Having being born in ZAKYNTHOS and having relatives there, I often visit the cove. Its truly a most breathtaking sight, very clear and blue waters. Climbing is difficult, so go by boat. The beach is peebled so shoes are a must. The island in general is very beautiful. Of course Corfu taking the majority of publication as well as KEfalonia due to the movie, Zakynthos is not published much, but I happen to know that the Zakynthians prefer it that way, as they dont want their island to be spoilt.
I doubt if the ship was put there by the government as a tourist attraction, I very much doubt that they spend money to move a rotting ship!!! So go visit it, we are a friendly lot and make friends very easily. As for me, to make you people jealous, am travelling to my island on the 20th of July.

Συγγνώμη Λίνα, but zakynthos is already spoiled and over builded by bungalows and stuff…
zakynthians tend to burn the island every summer too
Anyway this island is in danger of getting ugly by the tourism…
for example Laganas is going down the drain..

Great place, I have been there. The soles of your feet are no match for the pebbles on the beach and if you were to go there up close, you would be somewhat distracted by the annoying graffiti on every part of the (not so old) boat and the swarthes of tourists there at all hours of the day. Actually, who I am to complain, I am a tourist myself

The boat was a cigarette smuggling ship which was tracked down by coast guard and the smugglers threw it on the beach in order to get away in the early 60′s i think

Ευθύμη, excluding the islands in the agoni grammi, you tell me which one is not spoiled by overbuilding!!! Tourism is a good business, but spoils everything, because of the easy money and due to people not caring. Laganas has been spoilt years ago, the beach is purely squishy mud. I never go there. The same applies to every beach which has a lot of visitors. Navagio is going to be spoilt too, over the years. But for the time being, is there for people to enjoy.

I love this beach! My grandma is from Zakynthos, so i go there often. Gorgeous place! The only things that bother me are all these graffities and the several initials …+…=LFF on the shipwreck, and all the tourists filling their empty plastic water bottles with the beautiful white pebbles of the beach. I see at least one person do that every time i visit, and it’s ridiculous! Other than that, a Greece’s must see!

I’ve been there a month or so ago, and it’s legendary. Awesome white pebbels, amazing color of the sea, beautiful caves. all of these pics were taken from a cave like platform on top of the cliff and it is kinda scary, but breathtaking. It is maybe too commercial nowadays, but still worth seeing for it may be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Plus, for most people around the Europe, the prices are low and you really can see beautiful nature and have loads of fun.:)

ASIANS CAN ACTUALLY READ MINDS!!!!!!!!
they can see, and hear what your thinking
the reason alot of asians have completely expressionless faces, only associate with asians and dont associate with non asians very much is to avoid accidentally revealing that they can read read minds, if all over a billion asians were to show facial expressions all the time just as much as non asians, associate with non asians much more, and be much more friendly and talkative, then alot of them might accidentally reveal that they can read minds by accidentally showing a facial expression or dirty look when someone thinks, or visually pictures something in their mind they dont like or find astonishing or funny, and if they were all to associate with non asians alot more there would be alot more people around for them to accidentally show facial expressions when those other people think things they dont like, so they only associate with asians so there wont be anyone around for them to see that and have any accidents happen in the first place
think about it, its not normal how alot of them act, and the entire way they act is all to hide their mind reading abilities, it makes perfect sense to do all of that to hide that they can read minds, because all of that is the perfect way to do it!
every single asian on the planet is hiding their mind reading abilities, they value hiding their mind reading abilities more then their own lives!
thats why nobody knows about it!
try thinking, best yet visually picturing in your mind something something absolutely crazy as you possibly can when you are around asians, and try looking for asians who give people particular looks, especially dirty looks for what appears to be for completely no reason, that is them giving people looks when they hear and visually see someone thinking something they dont like, find funny or astonishing
it still happens despite them having completely expressionless faces all the time, its not uncommon!
i know this sounds crazy, impossible, and completely unbelievable, BUT IT ISNT CRAZY WHEN ITS TRUE

its wonderful. Greek culture, the Greek people are so hospitable, and this amazing piece of beauty is awesome.
regrettably, its an island of contrast, for years this island has been plagued by drunkeness and insane behaviour by Brits on holiday who, (not all of them) really are just NUTS. i will be back to this place, and hope that the greeks understand not all Brits are the same. big hugs to this wonderful island and peoples.

I have been to this place, in september so only a few people on the beach as it was early in the morning, and it is breathtakingly beautiful. Also visited the blue caves near there and went snorkelling, which was incredible. I stayed at a club near here, not near Zante the touristy area, so I found everything to be stunning and will never forget it!
